This is your typical, New England, fried clam and fish shack, with dim lighting, low ceilings, and a classic menu.
My father in law and I went at 1:30 on a non-holiday weekend Sunday and the food was an absolute hit. I got the fried haddock and he got the fish stew. It was fresh, hot, and cooked well. My only real complaint was the lack of seasoning on the fries and fish AFTER it was fried. With the exception of that minor pet peeve of mine, it was delicious.
My FiL and MiL say they've gone there a number of times, and it's always been excellent. Based on this visit, I would be inclined to agree with them. I'll need to go back a couple of more times to see how the rest of the seafood is, but, if it's anything like the haddock, I'm sure it'll be great. -

Wow is all I can say. We eat out frequently and drive by this place all the time. We decided to give it a try. The food was delicious!! Seafood was so fresh and not overly breaded. Prime rib that was so flavorful. We will be coming back a lot! A true gem on the seacoast. Everyone should try this place! And if you like onion rings...mic drop! They are the best I've ever had!

We received a gift card for here for xmas and it was so worth the trip! Our waitress, Amanda was excellent and very upbeat! My husband ordered the New Yorker steak and Amanda mentioned it would be a while for the steak go be ready, we were fine with that. Because it was the most delicious steak he had ever had. Perfectly cooked and ginormous! Close to 30 oz ! I had the fried haddock and it was amazing!
A great experience and great atmosphere! -

First experience... i give it a 3.75. My bf and i have tried coming here a couple of times in the past. The first time, we walked in and were told they were closing. Early, apparently, due to the slow business. I get it, but not professional. The second, was a Monday. Unaware it was the one day of the week they are closed. My own fault.
So, today was a win.
I have been craving burgers for a couple of days, which is SOOO NOT me. I hate burgers. It's right down the street from my house, so why not?...
Upon entering i noticed it was a bit dark. But not *in the dark* We started by ordering a beer and a drink. (I am normally a beer kinda gurl, but with the name...i couldn't pass it up) I got a cocktail called *Grammys Pie Hole* Regardless of how terrible the name sounds... or how many innuendos you can think of, it was delicious. Traci, also our server, made it perfectly. The perfect amount of ice, to whiskey to ginger ale. And the *rimmah* of caramel and sugar. Yummy!!!
We got an appetizer of cheesey fries. Hold the scallions. Although they didn't *hold the scallions*, they were not over-loaded, so they were very good. Real cheese, not sauce like most. And the crispy brown pieces along the edge of the plate.... oh yeah!! *drooling, still*
As our meals, and order of tips and rice, with a side salad and for myself, that BURGER.
The tips:
Over priced for certain. Although they were cooked just right, and flavored well, they just weren't worth the cost. The rice also had no flavor at all. The salad however, was good. Cool, crisp and refreshing. The croutons were crisp, not soft. As well as the tomatoes. With a slight *pop*
The Burger:
Cooked to perfection. Bland on flavor though. Some salt, pepper and garlic powder dusted on before cooking would have made the difference completely. And.... if the onions, peppers and mushrooms were sauteéd... What a difference it would have made. Oh, and did i fail to mention... the shrooms were CANNED?!?! Biiig no no. But... still will not stop me from returning.
At least now i know what to adjust when ordering next time.
The service was great. Traci was very personable and friendly.
Will surely be coming back.
Ps... i got a duck -

My husband and I split the Capt. Platter and it was huge. Lots of fried clams and two large pieces of haddock. Not too much fried shrimp and scallops. Place was OK inside, our server was not the greatest, but nice. I did find the food over priced in general, $15 for a burger at a bar is rather high. The platter we got was $30 and that was fair, considering the size. We even had leftovers.
